Lockheed Starfighter F-104G, Tail Number FX-81 was originally manufactured by the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in the United States and was sent overseas to serve with the Royal Netherlands Air Force.
After decommissioning the aircraft eventually wound up as a playground exhibit in Belgium from where it was reported to have been taken back to the United States and methodically restored to represent the authentic look of an early 1960's vintage F-104G Series aircraft serving as a front line fighter in the Royal Netherlands Air Force.
The fuselage, wing, and empennage were strengthened to enable the aircraft to carry an increased offensive weapons load and to handle the stresses of low-altitude combat missions flown at high speeds.

The feedback to Victory Aircraft in Malton from Manchester, where the British prototype Lancaster had made its inaugural flight at Ringway in January 1941, was that the Ruhr Express was the best equipped of any aircraft received from North America.
This involved the installation of radar and sonobuoy operators' positions in the rear of the aircraft and the removal of the rear and mid-upper gun turrets.

Do to her very low airframe hours, she was reactivated with the RCAF in 1953 and was flown out to Ontario that same year to undergo conversion into a Maritime Patrol Aircraft.
With donations from thousands of people worldwide and loans from the Province and the town, a building was completed in 1991 and the aircraft was finally rolled indoors where restoration to ground running condition is underway.
