 Video Game Magazines: WTF??
A couple of weeks ago, I went to the local Borders and grabbed a bunch of magazines from the rack.
Many games are focused on the idea of magic, fantasy and future times - science in advanced societies, mystical events and outer space.
Game art is full of glowing auras, technological vistas and neon-on-fl palettes - styles that some would argue have been done to death.

DVD Talk Forum - Best Video Game Magazine?
I am wanting to get a subscription to a video game magazine but I am so far out of the loop on which one is the best (last one I got was Nintendo Power and it was close to 10 years ago).
Plus it doesn't cover PC games which was one of your desires, and a requirement of mine as well as I have zero interest in PC games.
Game Informer has some ok stuff but its layout and organization of its magazine is just sukekekeke.

While Die Hard Game Fan spoke to a select group of gamers, I'm not convinced they were always die-hard game fans, as the title indicates.
This is a magazine that was never good at predicting the next big thing, but certainly liked talking about it when it arrived.
Of course, sometimes the magazine's fanboy elements would get in the way, especially if you weren't already a fan of the games they were going gaga over.

Of all the video game magazines throughout history, GamePro is one of the most boring.

Although video game magazines have rarely been known for their witty or insightful content, GamePro has always been at the bottom of the barrel.

It hymned, it hawed, it danced around the game's many glaring issues, and finally- inevitably, gave a very poopy game a very good review.

This is really what I think a game magazine should be, rather than the pure hype and excessive advertising that often haunts 'house' publications.
Unlike other magazines who only seem to care about backing one system or another Game Informer talks about everything that is going on in the gaming world, even addressing the serious issues of children and M rated games.
In the world of gaming, there are specialized magazines for each system (PlayStation Magazine, Xbox Mag, etc.), most of which suck because they only report on (duh) games on their respective systems.

I like EGM because they only give 10's (their highest possible score) only too the best of the best, if a game gets a 10...or a 9 for that matter, you can bet dollars to doughnuts that it's a masterpiece in it's own right.
Well actually i read them to see the games they gave great scores which i believe to be shit.
