	8 mm video format - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		These are the original Video8 format and its improved successor Hi8 (both analog), as well as a more recent digital format known as Digital8.
		Video8 was the earliest of the three formats, and is entirely analog.
		Because Video8 and Hi8 are analog video formats, transferring either to computer requires digitization.

		When I connect my Video8 camcorder directly to TV (via composite) picture is ok.
		I’m asking cause when I capture from tuner TV (build in my TV card) in SVCD resolution and encode it with TMPGEnc (Vdubanddeinterlace) the result is almost the same as original whereas when I capture from Video8 the quality is much worse than picture which I can see connecting my camcorder to TV.
		On a forum (I'm not sure if it was on that) I read that a very good solution is to record your Video8 source by DV camcorder, than transfer it to PC and finnaly make mpg.

		I totally understand that this won't be of much interest to many people but to the few who do care, maybe it will be helpful.
		My belief is that Video8 should behave about the same with either deck (in terms of resolution) and instead be a good way to expose differences in DNR and TBC between the decks, rather than out-and-out resolution.
		It seems to lose a tiny amount of detail, perhaps due to the NR, but on Video8 material it's barely noticable and certainly not worse than what you'd get doing NR in avisynth/virtualdub anyway.

	VHS Tapes to DVD
		The Video8 tapes, as I remember, were promoted by camera salesmen everywhere as higher quality and actually were slightly better than VHS for video, but were quite a bit higher in audio.
		Hi8 (Video Hi8 or High-band Video8) was the next generation of Video8 tapes.
		Additionally, even though Video8 and Hi8 offered some desirable options over the VHS-C tapes it nonetheless was not VCR viewable by use of an adaptor therefore many Video8 tapes were transferred onto the full size VHS tapes.
