This image shows a model of one of the Viking spacecraft, each of which was made of two parts: an orbiter and a lander.
Once the Viking orbiters were attached to their lander pods they were positioned inside the nose cones of Titan Centaur launch vehicles.

Viking is a free/open source program to manage GPS data.
You can import and plot tracks and waypoints, show Terraserver maps under it, add coordinate lines, make new tracks and waypoints, hide different things, etc. It is written in C with the GTK+ 2 toolkit, available for Linux, other POSIX operating systems, and Windows, and is licensed under the GNU GPL.
However, the Viking file format is binary, and pretty much just a bad idea, so I'm working on a new file text format that will be less error-prone (minor program changes make old Viking binary files unreadable).
