His older brother Mikhail did gymnastics, and one day Viktor followed him to the training hall.
Brother Mikhail also coached Viktor towards the end of his career.

We found ourselves in Finland getting new visas at the beginning of April, just in time for a benefit concert this group had organized.
Viktor Klimenko, a famous and beloved singer in Finland donated his performance, as did the accompanying Balalaika orchestra.
The group eagerly prepared for this concert and the accompanying craft and art sale …and so did the weather.
