Viktor Fedorovich Markin (Виктор Федорович Маркин) (born February 27, 1957) is a former Soviet athlete, winner of two gold medals at the 1980 Summer Olympics.
In the Olympic final, Markin was only fifth on a half distance and in the beginning of the finishing straight line he was still three metres behind of the leader East German Frank Schaffer.
Markin captured his second gold in the 4 × 400 m.

He won the gold medal in 400 metres the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, heading an American clean sweep.
He is the first white man to win gold at 400m since Viktor Markin in 1980, and the first white American man to win a medal of any kind in the sprints (400 m and under) since Michael Larrabee won the 400 in 1964.
However, Wariner doesn't see himself as representing a particular group or race, but rather view it as the culmination of individual hardwork and great coaching.
