In spite of so many common traits, both Deshmukh and Bhujbal come from different social backgrounds, Deshmukh belongs to the feudal order which is equivalent to the ruler of a pargana or a taluka while Bhujbal is an OBC, a “Mali” (gardener).
While Deshmukh is a product of the Congress — a protege of former Home Minister S.B. Chavan, Bhujbal began his political career in the Shivsena under the patronage of Bal Thackeray and became an activist.
A science graduate with a law degree from Pune, Deshmukh began his career as panchayat chief in Latur district, which was part of erstwhile Nizam’s princely state and acquired long experience in public life.

Deshmukh added combustible folly to his incompetence when he promoted his son in a popular Hindi film that never became popular because his son turned out, at least in this movie, to be as big a flop as his father.

Of course, neither the prime minister-in-eternal-waiting Sharad Pawar nor Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh or their deputy in different spheres, Chhagan Bhujbal, will buy that outcome, and instead crow that their point has been proved.
But let us not treat such outpourings as dismissively as we would normally do, and look instead at just what it was that this trio has achieved by their supposedly brilliant strategy.

NAGPUR, JUNE 19: The proposed expansion and reshuffle of the Vilasrao Deshmukh Cabinet has once again been put in cold storage as the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the principal ally of the government, is not in favour of any more inclusions in the Cabinet.
Talking to The Indian Express an influential minister of the Vilasrao Deshmukh ministry claimed that expansion of the cabinet was delayed due to Pawar as he could not provide the list of new ministers from his party so far.
The minister felt the cabinet expansion may lead to a split in the NCP as the party leadership would not be able to accommodate all legislators in the ministry.
