Huszar's finished design for the interior, in the form of a maquette with a cardboard model of the Berlin chair in place, was published in colour in the architectural journal L'Architecture Vivant in the Autumn-Winter issue for 1924.
The planar elements of the chair were painted in neutral grey, fl and white, complementing the blocks of bright primary colour with which Huszar proposed to decorate the walls of the room.

Involved in the founding of De Stijl in 1917 were its driving force, Theo van Doesburg, three painters (Piet Mondrian, Bart Van der Leck, and Vilmos Huszar), three architects (Jan Wils, Robert van’t Hoff and Gerrit Rietveld), a sculptor (Georges Vantongerloo), and poet Antony Kok (Jaffe 11).
In the late 1910’s all four painters (Mondrian, Van der Leck, Huszar and van Doesburg), had come to a point where each of their masterpieces had become almost impossible to differentiate.
Vilmos Huszar designed the magazines cover; although it has been rumored that van Doesburg contributed to the typography on the cover (Broos 149).

Theo van Doesburg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Van Doesburg saw in these paintings his ideal in painting: a complete abstraction of reality.
Soon after the exposition Van Doesburg got in contact with Mondrian, and together with other similar-minded artists such as Bart van der Leck, Anthony Kok, Vilmos Huszar and J.J.P. Oud they founded the magazine De Stijl in 1917.
Although 'De Stijl' was made up of many members, Van Doesburg was the 'ambassador' of the movement, promoting it across Europe.

Tara Hutton Gallery - De Stijl - What is De Stijl?
De Stijl was widely read by the staff and students at the famed Bauhaus School of Design in Weimar, Germany, Van Doesburg, arrived in Wiemar in 1921 and gave lectures at the Bauhaus on De Stijl Principals.
De Stijl (Dutch for 'The Style') then gave its name to a group of artists and architects that included Piet Mondrian, Bart Van Der Leck, Vilmos Huszar, Georges Vontongerloo, Pieter Oud, and Gerrit Rietveld.
The group sought to create a universal style of design, using geometric forms, straight vertical and horizontal lines, and a limited palette that allowed only the three primary colors - True Red, True Blue, True Yellow, in combination with the three non-colors Black, Gray, and White.

Mondrian & mysticism: "My long search is over" by Hilton Kramer
In the Netherlands they found an atmosphere of spiritual tension, generated by the fact of the country’s being a neutral enclave, an oasis in a continent at war.” It was thus in the war years that Mondrian came to know, among others, the painters Theo van Doesburg and Bart van der Leck, the architects J.
Oud and Robert van’t Hoff, the designers Vilmos Huszar and Gerrit Rietveld, and the Belgian sculptor Georges Vantongerloo—the artists who, with Mondrian, founded in 1917 the avant-garde movement called De Stijl (the Style).
This was to have an immense influence not only on the future of abstract art throughout the Western world but also on modern architecture and design and on the aesthetic, social, and pedagogical theories that supported them.

 destijl
Reyner Banham in Theories of Design in the first Machine Age stated "much of De Stijl's importance lay in its being first in the field with an organised body of ideas, a magazine and an energetic impresario".
The members of the De Stijl group included Piet Mondrian, JJP Oud, Vilmos Huszár, Bart van der Leck, and Gerrit Rietveld.
The members were not close knit - in fact they rarely met and did not exhibit as a group.

ART REVIEW; A Hard-Edged Zeal in Images of the Avant-Garde - New York Times
Later design, though it continues to be formally interesting and often exciting, is morally and spiritually hollow.
You don't worry about this too much when contemplating elegant designs like that of Vilmos Huszar for ''Miss Blanche Virginia Cigarettes,'' which features a modern smoking woman abstracted on a yellow field, or Schuitema's lithograph advertising Dutch ham, a beautiful composition of primary-colored geometric shapes and modernist lettering.
Pieces like Otis Shepard's 1930's poster for Wrigley's gum, which calls to mind the Pop-Conceptualist paintings of Ed Ruscha, or Lester Beall's starkly abstracted 1937 posters for the Rural Electrification Administration in the United States could be mistaken for art were they not devoid of any compelling value.

J.J.P. Oud was a famed modern architect; his European contemporaries are Le Corbusier, Walter Gropius, and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.
In Leiden in 1917, Oud, with the Dutch artist Theo van Doesburg and the expatriate Hungarian Vilmos Huszar, and fellow Hollanders Jan Wils and Bart van der Leck formed a collaboration between artists and architects a movement they called De Stijl.
The loose knit group slowly disintegrated, but in terms of architectural style the movement sought a unity between art and society that flirted with Constructivism, developed theories of Neoplasticism, and what Oud called Cubism.
