The Vilnius region was established in 1566 and continued to exist until the administrative reform of 1950 though the boundaries and jurisdiction of the region were constantly changing.

Pursuant to the decision of the College of Civil Cases of Vilnius County Court, the ruling of Vilnius District Court No.2 regarding the civil claim presented by UAB Tele 2 against AB Lietuvos Telekomas for violation of the network interconnection agreement still stands.
The decision made by Vilnius County Court on 11 February 2003 states that like before this demand of Tele 2 is abstract based on reasoning about fair performance of the agreement but presenting no proofs.
On 27 November 2002 the judge of Vilnius District Court No.2 made a ruling stating that the claim was considered as not filed and was returned to the claimant.
