		Vilppula train operator gave permission to the engine driver to push the train back behind the turnout.
		The reason for the wrong position of the turnout was the instructions given by the Vilppula train operator (in morning shift) to the shunting work foreman: when leaving, the on-duty locomotive accordingly left the Kolho turnouts pointing towards track 2 and the keys to the control key lock in the derailer.
		Moreover the fact that the on-duty Vilppula train operators had only poor knowledge of Kolho railway yard, had its impact on the generation of the hazardous situation.

		Ahti Vilppula, president of Kazakh ferroalloys trading company Alloy 2000, told delegates at the CRU bulk alloys conference in Monte Carlo that expansions by the country's chrome-manganese mining and alloying sectors would double manganese alloys production, while chrome production would increase by 20 percent by next year.
		Vilppula said that this furnace was not strictly new, but-was a high-carbon ferrochrome furnace that was idled last year in a climate of weak prices and then converted to produce silicomanganese.
		Vilppula added that about 70 percent of Aksu's intake of manganese came from the company's own mines, and that the development of the mine would ensure that the plant would not have to rely on sourcing material from third-party producers as it does at present.

	CHP produces green power and heat from sawmill's by-products
		The plants using sawmill byproducts such as bark and sawdust as fuel have made sawmills almost self-sufficient in energy and improved their overall competitiveness — in terms of sustainable development.
		In operation since early 2004, the plant has produced over 70% of the electricity needed by the sawmill as well as all the heat needed for wood drying.
		More than that, the plant also produces most of the district heat required for the town of Vilppula with its two thousand inhabitants and local industrial enterprises.

		On Sunday, 26 April 1998 at 11.24 hours, a hazardous situation arose at Vilppula when a fast train approaching the station faced a distant signal with a ”wait proceed” aspect and a main signal with a ”proceed” aspect, though the turnout was turned sidewise towards track III which permitted a maximum speed of 35 km/h.
		The accident was avoided, as the driver of the approaching train knew that the arrival track was track III and that access thereto was through the sn35 turnout.
		In order to avoid similar hazardous situations and possible accidents, Accident Investigation Board Finland recommends a checking of the signal boxes of this particular type and a realisation of any requisite additional connections.
