Vince Russo had been away from WCW for three weeks, and around Bash at the Beach time, he came back and booked Hulk Hogan to lose against Jeff Jarrett at Bash of the Beach 2000.
Vince Russo and Hogan started playing politics, but Hogan kept bringing up his creative control clause in his contract.
However, Russo crossed the line when he did his "shoot" on Hulk Hogan which is the reason Hogan filed a lawsuit against Vince Russo in real life.

Vince Russo was writing in the WWF from 97-99: a.k.a the most popular brand of entertainment over the last decade, as it took the ratings to new heights.
Many of the 'traditionalists' fail to understand Russo's on-screen role, but Vince Russo's character is crucial onto getting the storyline going, as the NWA vs. S.E.X story strongly revolves around him a.k.a the "Anti-Christ of professional wrestling".

Russo stated that when Arquette won the title, he did not pin a wrestler, he pinned Eric Bischoff, and that this was a realistic event, according to Russo.
Russo began to de-emphasize the cruiserweight division as well as the luchadores and foreign talent; these were two of the things that distinguished WCW from the WWF.

Russo did everything from putting the WCW Title around the waist of actor David Arquette to putting himself in an on-air feud with Ric Flair.
Clearly, Vince felt Russo left the company high-and-dry (even though he left scripts for the next two weeks of programming) and shouldn't have gone to the competition.
