Vinicius created a revolution in the way lyrics and poetry were written in Brazil and had a tremendous influence on the generation that followed and adored him (Chico, Caetano, and Gil to mention the three greatest).
Vinicius' own house was impractical for work, as it soon became an "open house" for all the friends of Vinicius and Lila who wandered in and out at will.

Vinicius' "Felicidade," a collaboration with Antonio Carlos Jobim, is included, in a disjointed version, where the mellow melody is juxtoposed with the sounds of children at play and ambient sounds of Rio.
Vinicius' vocals are whisper-y, conversational and penetrating, and Lara's are appropriately lush and sultry -- on duets, their voices don't always mesh, but since they mostly trade off on the songs, it doesn't matter much.
Late in 1968, Vinicius made a journey to Portugal where, as one of the most renowned modern poets of the Portuguese language, he was duly feted as the guest of Amalia Rodrigues, the world's greatest fado singer.

Toquinho Discography -- Slipcue.com Brazilian Music Guide
Guitarist Toquinho started his professional career working with lyricist Chico Buarque, although he is probably best known for his long partnership with bossa nova poet Vinicius De Moraes, a partnership which spanned the 1970s, with Toquinho supplying some of the most compelling accompaniment of Vinicius's career.
As usual, Vinicius and Toquinho turn in a solid performance -- it'd be difficult to imagine this sounding as groovy as it does had she gotten anyone else to back her up.

Tom Jobim: Tom Canta Vinícius - Ao Vivo
Vinícius de Moraes (Rio de Janeiro, RJ, 1913 - 1980) is associated with some of the best known Bossa Nova songs ever written.
With countless worldwide hits, it is probably enough to simply name one song to identify this musical icon: "Garota de Ipanema." He wrote its lyrics.
At that time, Tom Jobim (Rio de Janeiro, RJ, 1927 - New York City, 1994) and his group were presenting a special show celebrating the tenth anniversary of the death of his old friend Vinícius de Moraes.

Disc Review | Saravá, Baden Powell!
Ruy Castro claims that all the Afro-Sambas were composed in 1962 and ’63—before Baden had ever set foot in Bahia—and that the creation took place during a three-month alcoholic binge in Vinicius’ apartment and later in the Rio clinic where he checked himself in for drying out.
And then there are Jairo Severiano and Zuza Homem de Mello, who quote Elis Regina’s recollection that the lyrics of “Canto de Ossanha” were completed during rehearsal for her mid-’60s TV show O Fino da Bossa.
Complicating the matter even further is the frequent ascribing of Baden’s inspiration to an orientation from Vinicius, who played him an LP of sambas de roda and pontos de macumba recorded in Bahian terreiros.

Another bossa landmark is Dick Farney’s recording of Copacabana (João de Barro/Alberto Ribeiro), in 1946, arranged by modernist Radamés Gnattali.
Bossa nova’s tripod, as shaped by João Gilberto, was set upon Antonio Carlos Jobim’s musical density and Vinicius de Moraes’ poetic brilliance.
Ironically, the same Vinicius was Tom Jobim’s partner in the greatest classic of bossa nova, Garota de Ipanema — recorded in 1963 by João Gilberto, his wife Astrud, cool jazz saxophonist Stan Getz and Tom Jobim in the USA, and spreading the style over the planet.
