Pimentel said the PNP, under the leadership of Director General Edgardo Aglipay, should be commended for solving the separate murders of Mariano and Mayor Pambid and the unmasking and arrest of PO4 Medrano as the alleged head of "guns-for-hire" syndicate behind the recent rash of killings in Ilocos Norte.

Expressing shock that a police intelligence officer was found to be the leader of the "guns-for-hire" syndicate in Ilocos Norte, Pimentel said it is very worrisome when agents of the law misuse their authority to commit violent acts against the very citizens they are sworn to protect.
