In his strongly worded reaction, Virbhadra Singh, who is also leader of Opposition in the Assembly, maintained that the government had not violated any constitutional provision.

SHIMLA: The Himachal government on Saturday filed a complaint against former chief minister Virbhadra Singh under Section 200 CrPC for committing an offence punishable under Section 22 of the HP Ceiling on Land Holdings Act 1972, in the court of the sub-divisional judicial magistrate Rampur.
It goes on to state that Singh was holding land exceeding the permissible limit and was legally bound to furnish the particulars of all his land and declaration thereof.
It goes on to say that since Singh furnished a false declaration under Section 9, during the course of proceedings conducted under the Act, he was liable to be prosecuted under Section 22 of the HP Ceiling on Land Holdings Act, 1972, as per the inquiry report.
