Virgil Partch was born on Saint Paul Island, Alaska.
Partch had lived in Orange County, California since 1956 and at the time of his death was a resident of Laguna Beach, California.

Partch was a former Disney animator who got his start as a gag cartoonist after joining the animators' strike against Disney in 1941.
With an original ink drawing by Partch of a marching soldier with a back pack, saluting as he passes by, on the front free endpaper, signed "VIP".

More than any cartoonist I know of, Partch was liable to include original drawings in his various books.
The scene was the interior of a grass hut in the jungle, with a bunch of natives, complete with spears and nose rings, sitting around a table playing cards.
Did Virgil Partsch do the cartoon in New Yorker, I think --- of a little man in a box, shrinking back in the shadows, saying that "people are no damned good".

Oddly, the short Disney cartoon 'Duck Pimples' seems to be Virgil Partch's one and only foray into film animation...
I'm positive that Partch must have drawn the model sheets for these characters, and he may well have drawn key poses for the characters as well.
