| | Utah Water Research Laboratory - Virgin River Basin-Wide Habitat Assessment (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-11) |
 | | The Virgin River Resource Management and Recovery Program (The Program) is bringing together city, county, state, federal, university, and private groups within the Virgin River Basin in southwest Utah to work collaboratively to solve water resource allocation problems in a rapidly growing area while also working toward recovery of threatened and endangered native fish species. |
 | | The Institute for Natural Systems Engineering (INSE) at the Utah Water Research Laboratory (UWRL) is providing technical assistance to the Program by undertaking a comprehensive and integrated assessment of existing aquatic habitat conditions and adjacent land use patterns throughout the Virgin River Basin. |
 | | Specific objectives of the study are to (1) assess the quality of the habitat within the watershed using a quantitative index, (2) identify the critical factors that contribute to habitat quality, and (3) develop management tools to aid in decision-making regarding protection and enhancement of native aquatic and riparian communities. |
