Britannia: Ashby St. Ledgers, Northamptonshire   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
In 1903, Ivor Guest, Viscount Wimborne, bought the manor, and employed the renowned architect, Sir Edwin Lutyens, to do work both on the manor and in the village.
It was later sold by his son, and passed through the hands of some speculators, who, having little interest in or respect for the history of the property, allowed it to fall into considerable disrepair.
It was eventually purchased in 1998 by Viscount Wimborne's grandson and namesake, now the current Viscount Wimborne, in an attempt to save Ashby St. Ledgers from total ruin.

One is a Representation by Viscount Wimborne and the other is a Declaration of Trust of the 27th December, 1978, by Abacus (C.I.) Limited which settled a trust fund upon certain beneficiaries including Viscount Wimborne, and was made with his authority.
If Viscount Wimborne has an “interest in possession”, that might offend against the maxim, but if he has not, then I do think that that position would contravene the maxim, for reasons which I will give later.
In short, Lord Wimborne’s interest is the opposite of certain; it is precarious and I answer the question in paragraph 9 of the Representation by saying that the trustees have the right to withhold current income of the trust fund from the applicant.

Merley House - the home of Professional Computer Group Ltd
Myrle (now spelt Merley) was an ancient manor in the tithing of Great Canford, situated a mile south of Wimborne, and belonging to the ancient Lords of Canford.
As happened to so many historic houses, at the outbreak of war in 1939 the estate was requisitioned by the War Office and a large camp was built in the grounds, the house being used by the offices.
In 1942 the house changed hands once again, being bought by the 2nd Viscount Wimborne, but he never lived there as the Army did not leave until 1946 and the house was then sold again at auction.
