Visual Basic .NET - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Visual Basic.NET (VB.NET) is an object-oriented computer language that can be viewed as an evolution of Microsoft's Visual Basic (VB) implemented on the Microsoft.NET framework.
Whether Visual Basic.NET should be considered as just another version of Visual Basic or a completely different language is a topic of debate.
Visual Basic programs that are mainly algorithmic in nature can be migrated with few difficulties; those that rely heavily on such features as database support, graphics, unmanaged operations or on implementation details are more troublesome.

Scripts and scripting languages are well suited to automating repetitive procedures and simplifying file operations, typically in the operating system command shell environment.
For the purpose of this guide I consider scripts to be relatively small text files written and executed without a special development environment, and I consider a scripting language to be the application that interprets and executes a script.

Special Edition Using Visual Basic Script Ch 19, VBScript Procedures
Visual Basic Script makes this a little difficult since error handling has to be inline; and if an error cannot be rectified in your procedure logic, you must provide your error exit code immediately after the error or concoct some unique and probably convoluted logic to delay the need to exit the procedure.
In Visual Basic Script, you declare a procedure by declaring it as a Sub or Function, and provide a unique name for the procedure, as well as any arguments that should be included.
A procedure in Visual Basic Script is a structure with a single entry point and one or more exit points containing a series of statements that perform a particular task.

But a number of developers working with the first beta of one of the primary languages, Visual Basic.Net, are becoming increasingly vocal about their misgivings.

 Programming language - Encyclopedia.WorldSearch
Programming languages are not error tolerant; however, the burden of recognising and using the special vocabulary is reduced by help messages generated by the programming language implementation.
Functional languages often restrict names to denoting run-time computed values directly, instead of naming memory locations where values may be stored, and in some cases refuse to allow the value denoted by a name to be modified at all.
Most languages that are widely used, or have been used for a considerable period of time, have standardization bodies that meet regularly to create and publish formal definitions of the language, and discuss extending or supplementing the already extant definitions.

If "Windows Scripting Host" is removed, any such email worms which utilize Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook and other email programs which utilize the Microsoft VBS components can no longer pose a risk.
The vast majority of "internet worms" which have caused untold damage to millions of computers can only function with the use of these scripting facilities.
For your safety, VBS scripting must be purged from Windows itself since the operating system itself is the "infection" as configured by Microsoft who placed this on your system rather than "hackers." In other words, the "infection" was placed by a "trusted source with a certificate from Verisign" and therefore safe.
