Xeena, a visual XML editor, is a generic Java application for editing valid XML documents derived from any valid DTD.
The visual paradigm requires only a minimal learning curve, because only valid constructs or elements are presented to the user in a context-sensitive palette.
The editor is a Multiple Document Interface application (MDI) with full fledged support for editing multiple XML documents and for copying, cutting, and pasting from one document into another.

Build GUIs with the Eclipse Visual Editor project
Visual Editor's first incarnation as a GUI builder for AWT/Swing is satisfying enough for GUI developers, but if you're the sort of developer who likes to pop open the hood, there's lots to see: Visual Editor harnesses some very interesting technologies that are useful on their own.
GEF is a model-neutral framework, but as part of Visual Editor (and other graphical tools that generate code), it uses the Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF) behind the scenes to map among a model (which is stored internally using XML Metadata Interchange or XMI), a Java class, and the graphical representation.
This is why Visual Editor only needs to save one representation of the model, the Java source code, and why developers are free to edit this source code outside the graphical editor.

 Visual Editor Tutorial
When the Visual Editor is open it uses the JDT's Java editor (as the bottom half of the screen or a separate tab depending on the workbench preferences) and parses the code to recognize visual classes and how they are constructed and associated with each other together with their initial property values.
The user of the plugin will configure their Java project to use the custom prompter which is described in the later section Using a classpath container, and the visual editor will insert the JAR into the -classpath of the VM that it uses to host the Java classes that make up the user's classes.
When the Visual Editor opens over a project all of the containers are scanned and matched against extension points to see if there are any plugins that wish to contribute to the palette or any other custom visual editor behavior based on the classes included within the container.

 Mastering the VI editor
The VI editor has two modes and in order to get out of VI, you have to be in command mode.
One EX editor command that is useful in the VI editor is the abbreviate command.
The VI editor edits a temporary copy of your file, and after the editing is complete, or when you tell it to save, it puts the contents of the temporary copy into the original file.

JCreator Forum Board > Visual Editor
I realize that having a visual editor is a complex problem to solve for a programmer of an IDE, but I've been using JCreator as a student and professional for about 4 years now and I've seen it come a long way.
I think a Visual Editor is absolutely a MUST for every IDE to be competitive! I agree with the arguments that most of the products on the market produce code the programmer can't understand or that is formatted in a manner the programmer don't linkes.
The Code the Visual Editor produces could be seperated from other application code in seperate files, so programmers do not need to read this code as it is not necessary.

 DECS - VI (Visual Editor)
VI (visual) is a display-oriented text editor that is based on the underlying EX line editor.
Note that the editor does not directly modify the file which you are editing; the editor makes a copy of this file in the buffer and remembers the file's name.
You do not affect the contents of the file until you write the changes you have made into the original file.

Ack!Mud Visual Area Editor   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
The other reason for creating an editor, is to allow players to create their own areas - offline - that will more or less be ready for uploading and testing on the target MUD.
This way, admins don't have to worry about their mud crashing in the middle of building or having to set up build ports etc. And a third, if yet smaller reason, is to allow people to change VNUMs fast on existing areas to a new range.
The goal of the AVAE project is to create an editor which allows any custom ACK!MUDs to edit their area files, regardless of extra code in the codebase (to a limit).

Antechinus C# Editor: visually design .Net applications
C# Editor is a small foot print editor which is rich in features.
C# is a new programming language to me and, as one who has programmed in a wide variety of computer languages over the years, I know that visual IDEs are marvelous for rapidly assembling the user interface but they are a hindrance to learning the language and its finer points.
We have had really nice reviews of C# Editor; great feedback and e-mails of support from people using it; and there are companies using Antechinus to deliver C# training like Accelebrate and Webucator.
