 | | The subfamily Viverrinae (Carnivora, Feliformia, Viverridae) has a much debated systematics, which is representative of the taxonomic imbroglio prevailing within the "catch-all" family Viverridae. |
 | | Viverrinae are constituted by a set of species with heteroclite morphotypes: the Terrestrial Civets, large and digitigrade (Civettictis, Viverra and Viverricula), the Genets, smaller, thinner and semi-digitigrade (Genetta), and a set of taxa with atypical morphological characteristics, the Genet-like taxa (Prionodon, Poiana and Osbornictis). |
 | | The subfamily Viverrinae, consisting of a set of heteroclite morphotypes (also within genus Genetta), is characterized by a remarkable morphological lability, and viverrine lineages seem to have been the subject of important extinction rates. |
