Topic: Vlad Tepes (band)

Carrie's Site :: Welcome To My Site About Me And Things
Vlad Tepes was born in November or December 1431, in the fortress of Sighisoara, Romania.
Vlad became quite known for his brutal punishment techniques; he often ordered people to be skinned, boiled, decapitated, blinded, strangled, hanged, burned, roasted, hacked, nailed, buried alive, stabbed, etc. He also liked to cut off noses, ears, sexual organs and limbs.
Vlad, who was definitely not the kind of man to kill himself, managed to escape the siege of his fortress by using a secret passage into the mountain.

Vlad tepes was at one point sent as a hostage to Turkey along with his younger brother.
Vlad, known for his fierce belief in honesty (though not mercy), didn't take too kindly to this anymore then he did to the Saxon cities' habit of supporting rival claimants to the Wallachian throne.

Vlad Tepes do what most BM bands don't.
They are the best BM band and if you think they suck it is a reflection of yourself that you are projecting onto this wonderful band.
Vlad Tepes and the Black Legions in general also represent the way a BM band should think as evident in the book.

Vlad had her impaled in the center of town and picked out another young woman from the crowd to be the man's new wife.
Vlad III’s father thus came to be known as "Vlad Dracul," or "Vlad the dragon." In Romanian the ending "ulea" means "the son of".

Vlad Tepes is a brilliant band that incorporates very sombre melodies with the raw and extreme fl metal.
It can't be disputed that many of the bands I look unfavourably on have high technical abilities, but unfortunately I feel their music is devoid of emotion and very boring because of this generic, derivative sound.
The bands I don't personally care for are Absu (a very intelligent band, but try as I might I haven't been able to appreciate their music), Epoch of Unlight, Blood Stained Dusk and Wind of the Black Mountain.

Vlad, or as I know him, Hjkshrn, used to be in the 7th storm division with me. One day he complained of the food here, and swore to me that he would find a land in which SPAM could be bought in markets, and not taken by military leaders.

We have chosen it for our band name mainly for the symbolism of the dragon - representing the cycle of creation and destruction, being the guardian of ancient wisdom and the victim of tragic defeat, to name but a few elements related to the dragon.
Dracul does also mean order of the dragon, so our band name also relates us to this cult of which Vlad Tepes was the most famous participant.
I mean I try to support the bands here that I think are worth it and it just depends on one’s personal opportunities if that’s difficult or not.

So the bands we love stay working day jobs at Kinko's because they've only sold a 100 copies of their new album since it came out 4 months ago, while those in the mainstream with nonstop exposure are using caviar as sexual lubrication with several expensive prostitutes.
Id rather my band become popular and have people say that we sold out, but still be able to reach millions more people and maybe save someones life, than to be forever playing shows to 50 or 60 people and never getting anywhere or helping anyone.
Ahh, just to adress this matter: I was not stereotyping garage bands in general, I was saying that the idiot (also known as Vlad) was probably jealous of any band with any amount of popularity due to the fact that he's doubtless in some "wicked underground" band with no talent.

This film is a biography of the man whose life is generally considered to have given rise to the legend of the vampire, Count Dracula.
Fifteenth-century Rumanian nobleman Vlad Tepes skillfully defended his homeland of Wallachia in 1457 from the Ottoman Turks led by Mohammed II, who had just conquered the last remnant of the Byzantine Empire and large portions of Europe (including present-day Hungary, Bulgaria, and Greece).
He is also frequently referred to as "Vlad the Impaler." In this historical war drama, Rumanians seek both to exploit and to clear the medieval nobleman's name.

Studying the lives of minstrels and living it up themselves, they reconstructed old instruments in their own workshop and the constantly growing fan-community and the press raised the band to the "Kings of Minstrels" in 1994.
As the minstrels of old would take up melodies and rhythms on their journeys through the medieval world and merge it with their musical experience into new music of their time, Corvus Corax also let their own musical experiences - modern music, included - flow in the old music.
A link between legends and the music of Corvus Corax was afforded when the band met with Ottomar Rodolphe Vlad Dracula Prince Kretzulesco, decendant of the legendary prince Vlad Tepes, who Bram Stoker based his story of Prince Dracula on.

It immediately goes to "Dracole Wayda", and continues the story, this one including the building of the Poenari Fortress by the remaining nobles that were still alive after he slaughtered the older ones who have seen many reigns of princes...and the clothes falling off their backs.
Next down the line is "Deme Quaden Thyrane", basicaly telling the stories of all of Vlad's atrocities...from roasting people, skinning them crushing them, impaling infants on stakes already driven through their mothers...all of that nice stuff.

I chose the band's name in 1999, 3 years before the real creation of ÖRDÖG. I knew that it would be the name of my band.
I chose this name for its sonority, obviously there's a concept behind this name, a concept of heresy for VLAD TEPES used to be a catholic disciple and murdered thousands of people that he considered as unfaithful subhumans, in order to worship his god.
He was hated by the catholic power but his legacy is still shining, he worshiped a god of blood and terror...Thus he was considered as a hellish creature ("ÖRDÖG") worshiping a bestial god instead of the positive god that fitted the catholic standards.

After Mutiilation, Vlad Tepes have a reasonable amount of popularity, and a few of their works have been re-issued.
The most apt description I've heard was for Vlad Tepes' La Morte Lune, saying something like 'it sounds like this was recorded on an answering machine in the room beside the room in which the band were rehearsing.' That being said though, I still love Mutiilation and Vlad Tepes.
As for DSO, saying that they are a French band is a bit of a stretch, as the line-up is shrouded in mystery.
