Soyuz 34 landed at 12:30 GMT with the crew of Lyakhov and Ryumin aboard.
Transported to the Mir orbital station a Soviet-Afghan crew comprising the cosmonauts V A Lyakhov, V V Polyakov and A A Momand (Afghanistan) to conduct joint research and experiments with the cosmonauts V G Titov and M K Manarov.
Finally Lyakhov and Afghani cosmonaut Mohmand (Soyuz TM-6) returned safely to Earth and landed September 7, 1988 00:50 GMT, 160 km SE Dzhezkazgan.

A Proton rocket carrying pilot Vladimir Lyakhov, physician Valery Polyakov and Afghan military pilot Abdul Ahmad Mohmand aboard a Soyuz TM-6 capsule lifted off from the Baikonur space center at 8:23 a.m.
Vladimir Shatalov, Dzhamidekov's superior, said Titov and Manarov will return to Earth in late December but did not give an exact date or say whether Polyakov will accompany them.
Lyakhov, the 47-year-old pilot, was making his third space flight.

Polyakov is to remain aboard Mir to observe the health of Vladimir Titov and Musa Manarov, astronauts who have been in space since last December, officials said.
Lyakhov are to join the others in a week of research aboard the space station.
