  V.A.Marchenko Biography
Vladimir Alexandrovich Marchenko was born on July 7, 1922, in Kharkov.
Vladimir's oldest sister, Irina, was fascinated since childhood by poetry, music and languages; she graduated in Leningrad University and worked in the Kharkov Conservatory and later in Leningrad, being engaged in history of art.
Vladimir Alexandrovich's childhood was not exempt of hardships.

Vladimir Marchenko, who was appointed in May 1998, is a career counterintelligence officer who served in Federal Security Bureau units in Krasnodar and Rostov, and as deputy head of the FSB's anti-terrorism department.
Marchenko allegedly recalled Bout to Russia after the Angolan government canceled its business with Bout when it found out in 1998 that the alleged gunrunner had supplied both sides in the war.

"Marchenko grooves can be at a scale of anything from a micron down to just a few nanometers and can be made from many different materials including silicon, gallium arsenide-even carbon nanotubes," he said.
