  Premysl Ottokar I
Premysl Ottokar I (or Premysl Ottakar I, Czech: Přemysl Otakar I), king of Bohemia (1198-1230), was a younger son of King Vladislav II[?] (d.
His early years were passed amid the anarchy which prevailed everywhere in the country, after several struggles, in which he took part, he was recognized as ruler of Bohemia by the emperor Henry VI in 1192.
He was, however, soon overthrown, but renewing the fight in 1196 he forced his brother, duke Vladislav Jindrich[?], to abandon Bohemia to him and to content himself with Moravia.

 Pernstejn Castle - History
One of the most preserved castles in the Czech Republic, mentioned in historical records as early as the second half of the 13th century.
On the very beginning of the 13th century obtained Stepan from Medlov, a man from the near surroundings of a Moravian margrave Vladislav Jindrich and his brother, Czech king Premysl Otakar I., partly by a donation and partly by an exchange a territory on the upper stream of the river Svratka.

 The history of town
The original settlement was built on a crossroad of trade routs which lead from the Mediterranean to the Baltic sea.
Markgrave Vladislav Jindrich (around 1160 - 1222) gave this territory to the Order of the German Knights who establishd a large and economically influencial settlement here, roughly at the place of today chateau.
The Order owned and controlled this property until 1410 when, after the lost battle against the Polish king, the Order had to pay reparations and was forced to ask for loans.

In 1479 Vladislav Jagellonsky gave Moravia together with Silesia and Lusatia to Matyas Korvin, a Hungarian king.

According to the legend preserved by the local Jewish community, the Hungarians who, in the 10th century, undertook numerous attacks on the Moravian territory, built a military settlement near today Austerlitz and named it "Fehervar" - The White Town.
At the end of the 12th century markgrave Vladislav I. Jindrich (Henry) assigned this territory to the Order of the German Knights who gradually built here one of their economically most important settlements.
The Order controlled their properties for two hundred years, until 1410.
