  Degenerate states in language
The extension of the relation of a functionalized vocable is different from the one for its lexical ancestor.
Moreover the objects that a functionalized vocable connects are potentially infinite in type because a functionalized vocable can be attenuated to a point at which the perceptual cues that were associated to its early uses, have mostly disappeared.
So we can assume that vocables that are frequently used across many different environment have a greater potential to become functionalized as compared to vocables that are seldom in use, such as proper nouns.

Concerning the so called parts of speech
But of course a vocable is neither an adjective nor a noun, if all its word-occurrences of word-forms do not fit the definition normally given to adjectives and nouns in the Finnish language.
As vocables have neither meaning nor any syntactical qualities, all semantic and syntactical characteristics are useless in connection with them.
In order to be able to classify vocables from, let us say, for example, a semological point of view, one must demand that all the word-forms and occurrences of word-forms of the vocables in question shall possess certain general semological qualities (or syntactical qualities).

 Eccentricity and elasticity
The eccentric use of a vocable, and the attendant effort to understand it, is eventually diminished until it is normalized with its normative use.
As in the case of lost physical elasticity, the level of neural effort required to maintain the extended or stretched state is reduced or eliminated: the extension of the object in its stretched state has become the normal extension.
Uses of vocables resemble the physical nature of elasticity in a number of respects, transitions in currency of usage can signal a radical change in the use of a vocable.

VoDSL and VoCable, two variations of packet-switching technologies, are "connectionless" digital phone lines that can carry multiple voice signals over a single twisted-pair of copper wires at a much lower cost than the traditional analog phone lines.
The cable industry will also be a competitive force in local service markets, once it has developed an IP-based telephony solution that can offer the quality of service that consumers demand.
VoCable services are already in trial as the companies look to develop carrier-class services, and several major service introductions have been slated for 2001.

 Presemantic Uses of Context
The vocable ``ich'' is a homonym across languages.
It makes sense to speak of two words that are pronounced and spelled the same, because words are not merely patterns of sound or combinations of letters, but cultural objects with histories; our two words ``quail'' derived from different French and Latin words.
The term ``vocable'' can be used for what the words have in common, so if we need to be precise we can say the vocable ``quail'' corresponds to two words in English.
