The Vocal Group Hall of Fame was organized to honor what they term "the Greatest Vocal Groups in the World".
The Hall of Fame is headquartered in Sharon, Pennsylvania, United States.
The museum is being moved to a three-story restaurant building adjacent to the theater (the restaurant portion will become a vocal group-themed bar and grill).

The Hall of Fame, located at 98 E. State St., opened its doors in May 1998; the museum is designed to honor singing groups from the 1930s to present day.
In two short years, the Hall of Fame has grown from displays for only about a dozen groups, to cases of memorabilia highlighting more than 90 groups; plans are to have 125 installments by the end of the year.
Although groups are not eligible for induction into the Hall of Fame until 20 years after their first recording, they can still be enshrined in the museum, Frank said.

Fifteen vocal groups from the 1940s through the 1980s were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame at the annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies July 5-7, 2005, in Wildwood, N.J. This is the first year that inductions took place outside of Sharon PA, the home for the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.
Such diverse groups as The Tokens, The O’Jays and Elvis Presley’s backup group, The Jordanaires, were admitted to the Hall.

As Martha Reeves and the Vandellas took the stage to accept their induction into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame last night (Sept. 16) in Sharon, Pa., Reeves told the story of how the group came about.
Reeves and the Vandellas were one of 13 harmony and doo-wop groups inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, the six-year-old music museum in Western Pennsylvania.

Winner, who owns the company that makes The Club vehicle anti-theft device, has sued the hall and its foundation for repayment of a $10,000 loan and claims he is owed $50,000 in back taxes.

Now Butala and new Vocal Hall Director Bob Crosby have reacquired the theater and hope to make it a vital part of the hall's development, although the hall now is operating without the financial backing of Sharon businessman James Winner.
