Vocal percussion is the art of creating sounds with one's mouth that approximate, imitate, or otherwise serve the same purpose as a percussion instrument, whether in a group of singers, an instrumental ensemble, or solo.
The vocal percussion used by most college and professional a cappella groups attempts a more complete facsimile of the pop music that these groups primarily perform.
Vocal percussion is also an integral part of many world music traditions, most notably in the traditions of North India (bols) and South India (solkattu).

The vocal percussion loops and effects are ripe for dance tracks and would make great additions to any basic rhythm track the Jazz samples are out of this world, moving from haunting, free-form phrasing and scats to group multi-samples that swing and sway with such class they just beg you to use them.
The vocal percussion loops are slick and I loved the fact that you aren't stuck with vocal loops locked at one tempo, destined to succumb to the chipmunk effect as soon as you change the tempo.
Vocal Planet is packed with some gorgeous sounding and performing samples - it covers almost everything that I could have hoped for in a library that attempts to squash a worldwide representation of vocal performances and styles onto six CDs.

Vocal percussion is a non-entity on this album; I think that might help with focus on some songs.
The use of hi hat vocal percussion is effective, but the fact that it cuts in and out is annoying.
The percussion is well done but he should have been farther from the mike on the high hat -- it gets quieter as the song goes on but is just too loud at first.

This vocal percussion remix includes some all-vocal tracks, some that mix instruments with vocal percussion, and some that retain their original percussion tracks.
A remix of "Let it Be," originally done by the Beatles, has vocal percussion instead of instruments and it makes for an interesting listen, especially considering it is difficult to tell if the percussion is from one of the group members or instrumental.
The a cappella is energetic and fun, and the vocal percussion sounds so real, reading the disc booklet is the only way to decipher if it is real or not.
