Irish Vocational Education Association - An Cumann Gairmoideachais In Eirinn
As the national representative body for Vocational Education Committees (VECs), IVEA is responsible for safeguarding the education and training interests of those served by our member committees.
VECs are established in accordance with the provisions of the Vocational Education Act 1930 and Amendments and provide a prestigious range of education, training and support services for a variety of cohorts within our local communities.
Arising from the enactment of the VEC Amendment Act, 2001 there was a subsequent need to re-assess the structural framework of the Association to more effectively meet both the needs of member VECs and the requirements of a constantly changing educational sector environment.

Vocational Education Committee - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Vocational Education Committee (VEC) are committees in the Republic of Ireland that have charge of vocational schools, certain colleges and previously had authority over the Dublin Institute of Technology and the Regional Technical Colleges until 1992.
The Vocational Education Committee system is to a large extent based on the traditional counties and cities of Ireland.
County Dublin is in the anomalous situation as it has a committee even though the county no longer exists in law as a local authority (see Dublin County Council); the committee covers the county except for the extents as covered by the corressponding committess for City of Dublin and former Corporation of Dún Laoghaire.
