He is the Wangto the Sentry's Yin - it's never explained if the Void is merely a split personality given form, or if the Void exists in the universe as a balance to the Sentry.
He is the Yang to the Sentry's Yin - it's never explained if the Void is merely a split personality given form, or if the Void exists in the universe as a balance to the Sentry.
The Hulk was for a time the Sentry's partner, living with him in the Watchtower, and the continued exposure to the Sentry's presence was said to be causing the Hulk to slowly "evolve."

In addition to Jay Mcleod, whose Migrayn comic has been with Protean Void since 2002, PV Comics is now home to some well known names in the webcomics world, such as Nate Piekos, creator of the popular Blambot Comic Fonts, and DJ Coffman, veteran of numerous print and webcomic features.
Myself and the rest of the team at PV Comics would like to extend a VIP Sneak Preview invitation to everyone who was a Protean Void comics reader in the past.
They didn't invent the concept of comic books on the internet and they're not the first subscription based site online, but twelve popular cartoonists are betting that readers will be willing to pay $1 a year to enjoy their work.

Beetle (comics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Emerging from the void, the Thunderbolts encountered their former teammates Hawkeye and Songbird, who had formed their own version of the Thunderbolts, who were similarly engaged with the void from the real Earth's counterpart of the spaceship.
The two teams of Thunderbolts combined forces to plug the void and shunt the alien ship from Earth.
Despite their reluctance to risk their newfound freedom, Jenkins and Songbird agreed to join Citizen V (secretly Baron Helmut Zemo controlling Citizen V's body) in attacking Graviton as part of a new team of Thunderbolts.

That is, except Void, the WildCATs' resident teleporter.
Grifter and Void present the rescue mission to the other WildCATs, believing the monsters to be Daemonite, and therefore giving the 'CATs reason to investigate.

 SpiderFan.org - Comics : Reviews : The Sentry
The Sentry's powers are closely linked to his potion and it is hinted that he is in fact addicted to it and it resulted in the Void persona.
Basically the story of the Sentry starts of as mystery focused on Bob Reynolds, a seeming drunk, who one night vaguely recalls a life as a costumed hero and is attacked by a menacing prescene called the Void.
This was mainly because the truth that the Sentry and the Void were closely connected and the one in same became too obvious, too soon.

The Sentry - PopMatters Comic Book Review
Therein lies the hat-trick Marvel Comics' edgy sub-company, Marvel Knights, is trying to play: Perhaps there is both a void and a Void, a forgotten history of the Marvel Universe to both readers and characters alike.
Further, DC Comics just recent published a JLA story featuring the return of forgotten character, one whom had been erased from existence; DC has continually played with this do they/don't they exist theme ever since wiping the slate clean and rebooting their universe twice in the forms of Crisis on Infinite Earths and Zero Hour.
Someone has been hiding the Sentry's existence, they seem to be telling us, from the characters of the Marvel Universe and from the comic-reading populace itself.

Sentry (comics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It is also possible that Sentry's character is partly meant to symbolize the "transformation" comics underwent from the transition from the Silver to the modern age of comics; the purely heroic Sentry being cursed by the darkness of the Void like comics themselves have been "possessed" by darker characters and storylines.
He was created by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee for the Marvel Comics Marvel Knights line where he starred in a successful limited series based on a hoax about a forgotten Silver Age creation of Stan Lee.

Ian Watson can keep posting his old cr@p all night - Why the Swordsman was an Avenger
The Swordsman is surely unique in comics in having his origin published and his secret identity revealed for the first time fifteen years after he permanently died.
Yet a chance involvement with a servant who was the butt of his father’s brutality led young Duquesne to a forbidden meeting of the Communist rebellion, and at that meeting he found their doctrines and ideals filling a void in his life and became converted to their cause.
She lead the Swordsman back to New York and managed to get him his dream - a probationary place with the Avengers (#114).

 Sasquatch ("Wanda" Langkowski)
As anyone who reads comics can tell you, death in the comics is hardly ever a permanent condition, as characters come back from the dead with astonishing regularity.
In the meantime, however, the villainous Pestilence had re-animated Snowbird's dead body and was using it to attack Alpha Flight in her "Sasquatch" form.
He drifted in the void for some time after that, but through an unusual set of circumstances he was able to later possess the mindless body of the villain Smart Alec, which he then used as a vessel to get himself back into the Box robot.

It may be theorized that the Sentry also has the ability to produce hard-light constructs similar to those of Dazzler's when it was revealed that the Void is a just an expression of his repressed persona, and thus his creation.
With Marvel dubbing The Sentry as the world's most powerful superhero, and with the serum causing a photosynthetic reaction to his body, completely altering his state of consciousness, it is nonetheless conceivable that Sentry's powers are limitless, and may even rival those of the Silver Surfer's and Phoenix's.
The Sentry's powers are derived from a serum which causes his molecules to step an instant ahead of the current timeline.

Readers were introduced to the Monitor, a mysterious benefactor who plucked select heroes and villains from various Earths and time periods in an effort to halt the ever-encroaching void.
In a moment unexpected by anyone reading comics at the time (and remember, there were no Previews catalog and no Internet back then, so you only knew what would happen when you picked the book up off the rack), Supergirl, a mainstay of DC Comics for over 30 years, was dead.
Had any of these decisions resulted in better comics, it wouldn’t have been so bad, but that wasn’t the case; as good as many of these comics were, they wouldn’t have suffered any by retaining that link to the Justice League.
