The Aero Commander company bought the Volaircraft design in 1960, and produced it as the Aero Commander 100.
It was produced in two versions: the 150hp Darter Commander and the 180hp Lark Commander.
The SR range is still in production as of October 2005, with over 1,000 having been made since its introduction in March 1995.

The Areo Commander Darter Commander four-seat light aircraft started life as the Voltaire model 1050 a product of volaircraft Corporation of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, which produced the type in smaller numbers.
Volaircraft was acquired by Rockwell Standard in July 1965 and production contained animally under the name Aero Commander 100.
The company had big plans for the 100 and hoped to build about 180 by the end of 1995 with at least 5000 the following year.
