Volkswagen Group says it is enjoying strong growth in sales across Asia Pacific, delivering 807,000 vehicles in the region in 2003, up from 621,000 in 2002 for an annualised increase of 30 percent.
Last year the Volkswagen Group increased sales in China by 36 percent to 697,000 and was the clear market leader in passenger vehicles with a 30.8 percent share.
Volkswagen is expecting considerable rates of growth on the Chinese car market over the next few years.

The group has already shut down some unauthorized use of its logo and is considering launching educational campaigns on state TV to inform the public about the phenomenon.

Volkswagen Group and its two Chinese joint ventures sold a total of 345,375 cars from January to June this year, up 30.2 per cent from a year ago, the German carmaker said.
Volkswagen said it and the two joint ventures with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp (SAIC) and First Automotive Works Corp (FAW) plan to introduce 12 to 14 new models up to 2009, including the Skoda Fabia and Superb, which were added to the programme last month.
