Volodymyr, his family, and his closest associates were baptized in December 987, when he took the Christian name Vasylii (Basil).
Volodymyr received papal emissaries in 986, 988, 991, 992, and 1000 and sent his own envoys to Rome in 993 and 1001.

 Volodymyr Chyljak
Volodymyr Chyljak was born on July 15, 1848 in Wirchomla Wielka (Virchovnja Velyka), a Lemko Rusyn village (Nowy Sacz district) in the former Habsburg Austrian province of Galicia, where his father Ignatyj was a Greek Catholic priest.
The young Volodymyr finished primary school and six grades of gymnasium in the nearby town of Nowy Sacz, after which he was sent across the Carpathians to Presov, where he received his gymnasium diploma.
Volodymyr Chyljak's contribution to Lemko cultural development is outstanding, and through his writings readers from many lands can gain an insight into Lemko life in a direct and all encompassing manner.

Volodymyr said his parents, Nikola and Olga, were happy he was going to study abroad, but still didn’t want him to go to the U.S. He stays in touch with them, as well as his younger sisters - Maria, 12, and Sophia, 8 - through phone calls and email.
Volodymyr’s nine-month stay in the U.S. has been made easier thanks to his host family, Erech and Sarah Kano (and their three children) of Milaca.

Both before and after her Baptism Olha was very pious and she raised her son Sviatoslav (father of Prince Volodymyr) in the Christian spirit until she died 969A.D. In 980A.D. Volodymyr, son of Prince Sviatoslav took over the government of all the Kyjivan-Rus states.
As for the canonization of Prince Volodymyr it only is known that he was canonized, by the Orthodox Church but is not known when.
The first time Volodymyr’s canonization (recognition as a saint) was mentioned in chronicle was in 1254 and this could be the year of his canonization itself.

Also prominent among Volodymyr Katelnytsky's activities was the dissemination of a Ukrainian version of what happened at Babyn Yar, similar, I believe, to the version advocated on the Ukrainian Archive.
