The Voree Plates were excavated in 1845 near Burlington, Wisconsin by four men who were acting under the direction of the prophet James Strang.
A statement in the Chronicles of Voree, which was a handwritten church journal, says that the translation made by James Strang was a translation "in part" of the plates.
It also seems that a double dot or a triple dot is used on the Voree Plates to indicate the end of a sentence, and a quadruple dot is used to end a paragraph.

However, I did use my awareness of the repeated words on the plates in an attempt to determine which handwriting variations were insignificant.
The characters that consist of a single stroke might represent vowels in which the angle of the stroke distinguishes the vowel, for example "a", "e", and "o".
