Topic: Vox (musical equipment)

Vox (musical equipment) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vox is a musical equipment manufacturer based in Britain, which is most famous for making the AC30 guitar amplifier and the Vox organ.
Vox's wah-wah pedals were used by psychedelic rock guitarists Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix.
The Vox brand was also applied to electronic organs, notably the Vox Continental of 1962, which was immortalized by Alan Price of the Animals track House of the Rising Sun, later used by Ray Manzarek in most songs of The Doors ("Light My Fire").

 Vox: Never Stops Happening!
Not stopping there, Vox soon released their most unusual item, the Guitar-Organ which is massively heavy and complex to play but which has been unparalleled by any other instrument.
Music was progressing beyond his personal interests, and the company was far too large for his management, so he resigned.
Priced in a mid-range, these amps have never quite gained the popularity of the original Vox equipment, which continues to be popular both for its unusual design, and because of the history of the company's involvement with the British Invasion.

 Vox AC30
Now, Vox's image is mostly synonymous with the vintage/collectors' market but it shouldn't be overlooked how incredibly innovative and experimental Vox were in their heyday; certainly without their key involvement in the seminal British rock'n'roll movement, most of our favourite bands and records just wouldn't sound the same.
Why Vox played such a vital role is really because they were one of the very first companies to cater instinctively for the guitarist and introduce amplifiers and other products geared specifically towards tapping the exciting potential of the then comparatively new technology of the electric guitar.
Just as Vox seemed poised on the brink of world domination, events took a course which were to lead to the eventual dissolution of the original team and the beginning of the end of their reign as undisputed market leaders.

 Vox V848 Clyde McCoy Wah-Wah | Sweetwater.com
Vox created the world's first Wah-Wah pedal while designing a device using a variable version of the 'VOX MRB' (mid-range boost) circuit made famous in their amps.
That pedal imitated the sound of a trumpet being muted and Vox recruited Clyde McCoy, a famous trumpet player of the day who was best known for his expressive use of the trumpet mute, as an endorser of the pedal, hence the name: Vox Clyde McCoy Wah-Wah Pedal.
But vintage pedals are difficult to find and their usability is often compromised by aging circuitry.
