The Voyager program consisted of a pair of unmanned scientific probes, Voyager 1 and Voyager 2, ostensibly sent to study Jupiter and Saturn, using an advantageous planetary alignment of the late 1970s.
The Voyager 1 scan platform was scheduled to be powered down in late 2000, but will be left on at the request of the UVS investigator (with the concurrence of the Science Steering Group) to investigate an unexpected excess in UV from the upwind direction.
Voyager is also the name of a series of unmanned probes to Mars which were planned between 1966 and 1968 for launch in 1974-75.

The Voyager program consists of a pair of unmanned scientific probes, Voyager 1 and Voyager 2.
Voyager is a scaled-back version of the Grand Tour program of the late 1960s and early 1970s.
The Voyager launches occurred just before the dawn of the media-savvy 1980s, and the program's discoveries during the primary phase of its mission, including striking never-before-seen close up color photos of the major planets, were regularly documented by both print and electronic media outlets.

Voyager 1 is on a hyperbolic trajectory and has achieved escape velocity, meaning that its orbit will not return to the inner solar system.
Voyager 1 had as its primary targets the planets Jupiter and Saturn and their associated moons and rings; its current mission is the detection of the heliopause and particle measurements of solar wind and the interstellar medium.
Both Voyager probes are powered by three radioisotope thermoelectric generators, which have far outlasted their originally intended lifespan, and are now expected to continue to generate enough power to keep communicating with Earth until around the year 2020.

 NSSDC: Voyager Project Information
Preceeded by the Pioneer 10 and 11 missions, Voyager 1 and 2 were to make studies of Jupiter and Saturn, their satellites, and their magnetospheres as well as studies of the interplanetary medium.
Voyager 2 was then diverted to the remaining gas giants, Uranus (January 1986) and Neptune (August 1989).
Data collected by Voyager 1 and 2 were not confined to the periods surrounding encounters with the outer gas giants, with the various fields and particles experiments and the ultraviolet spectrometer collecting data nearly continuously during the interplanetary cruise phases of the mission.

The EMH was programmed with 5 million possible treatments from the collective information of 2000 medical references and the experience of 47 individual medical officers.
After the EMH Mark II supplanted the "inferior" Mark I, the only remaining versions to fulfill their original programming were aboard the USS Voyager and the USS Equinox, which were both stranded in the Delta Quadrant and had to implement the emergency holograms for extended periods of time.
Furthermore, Voyager's EMH was able to leave sickbay or the holodeck and to roam freely with the help of a mobile emitter (originating from 29th century technology).
