Vratislavice nad Nisou (German: Maffersdorf (historical)) was a town in the northern Czech Republic, now part of Liberec.
In 1901 both villages were merged into one, and Czech inhabitants started to use name Vratislavice.
In 1980 Vratislavice became administrative part of Liberec.

The Vratislavice brewery became a main plant of Severoèeské pivovary with its plants in Svijany and Cvikov.

This week fans and Porsche owners will gather in Vratislavice to show off antique as well as newer models, to test drive their cars through a few loops and afterwards to have a beer.

In 1927 their factory in Vratislavice nad Nisou produced the biggest handmade carpet in the world for Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York.
Vratislavice nad Nisou was also the birth place, in 1875, of the car designer Ferdinand Porsche, he created the famous "people`s car" VW Beetle.

A series of churches have stood in Vratislavice over the centuries, although of course the only one to have been preserved is the Church of the Holy Trinity dating from 1700-1701.
The church was built at the instigation of Count Gallas by the famous Prague architect M.A.Canevalle.
This single-nave Baroque building underwent major repair work in the years 1900-1901 and the only things preserved from this time are the interior furnishings of the church.

Konrad Henlein (May 6, 1898 - May 10, 1945) was the most important pro-Nazi politician in the Czechoslovakian province of the Sudetenland.
Born in north Bohemian Maffersfdorf (today Vratislavice nad Nisou) in a mixed marriage (his father was ethnic German while his mother was Czech), he attended a German business academy in northern Bohemian Liberec, which at that time was part of Austria-Hungary.
After the First World War, during which he spent time in Italian captivity as an Austrian soldier, he worked as a bank clerk in the interwar Czechoslovakia while taking an active part in the Sudeten German communal life.

A small brewery named Hols from Vratislavice furnished its Konrad lager, a lightly sweet brew with low aromatics and a fairly simple flavour leading to a mild-mannered finish.
This was the seventh beer tasted, which may have had something to do with the lack of impression it left, but even for a fairly delicate beer it didn't seem to offer much in the way of overall character.

For remaining part from Vratislavice to Jablonec, current railway route electrified at 600 Volts should be used.

Shortly after WW2 new projects about the connection between Liberec and Jablonec were created.
In 1950 in Jablonec started to built, in 1954 they reached Vratislavice, village between these two cities and in 1955 was route completed.
So it is possible, that Jablonec's route will be regauged only to Vratislavice, and rest to Jablonec will be abandoned, but it is worst solution and all and we can hope, that this 'Momentary Lapse Of Reason') never becomes a reality.

In doubles action, however, the Lions swept the court, winning all three matches.
