There was Posts claiming to have tower construction information, FCC filings and TV stations intended plans and most of it was pure fantasy.
There were reception reports that if the poster read any of the other reports would realize that their conclusion about reception was false.
These pictures were not of the WAFB tower.

An insider at Cox in Baton Rouge has notified me that they are targeting the fall of 2002 for this installation of the HD transmission equipment.
If WAFB is not planning on getting things going until November, then their is really only 1 month of football.
The Baton Rouge site states "there will be an additional charge" for the HD STB, but no mention of having to buy the thing.

WAFB has chosen not to maximize thier facility, and is currently licensed to operate @ 46kw.
I'm interested in WGMB for NFL coverage this fall and only when saints home games fail to sell-out, As you probably know the Baton Rouge market is covered by the flout which forces WGMB to air an alternate game.
Tweaked the WAFB signal a bit and got them up from 45% to 65%, still get dropouts during even the lightest bit of rain.

NBC finally is in HDTV in Baton Rouge.
I wish I lived closer to Baton Rouge...I would drive by the tower site in Addis during business hours and look for signs of activity..and hopefully run into a crew member or two...Regardless, they will be full power very soon.
Something may be happening this am, I think WVLA is broadcasting on their auxillary tower as of around 700 this am.

Not sure if anyone else on this forum lives in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area, but there is a bit of good news on the DTV front here in BR....finally!
Titan TV now reports a live date of March 15th, when it used to be May 1, and today I even emailed Clyde Pierce, the director of engineering, and he says as of 3/6, they are still right on schedule and should begin broadcasting by mid-March.
If they use all 6 months it means we won't see CBS HDTV here in Baton Rouge until at least November.

Last thing I heard (sorry, I forgot the source of this information) is that the city of Baton Rouge said they don´t have the docking facilities for such a big ship.
It´s true that Baton Rouge is no cruise ship port and doesn´t have facilities for big cruise ships.

During the workshop, the TV crew took video of the WSR-88D and filmed an interview with Mike and Frank to be aired in an upcoming hurricane preparedness special.
The workshop was highly successful and seemed to go a long way toward convincing the visitors that the NWSFO could provide radar coverage and weather services for the Baton Rouge area.

I have a Dishnetwork 921 HD receiver with a VU-190-xr (radio shack).
I live in the Baton Rouge area (70769) and am trying to pick up:
If you look at it's gain curves on FM, it actually has a small signal LOSS over a dipole antenna, and my empirical evidence confirms that it is a poor FM fringe antenna, although, by leaving it in the attic you will probably be able to use it for local Baton Rouge FM signals.
