A unique feature of WAMD was the inclusion of four associate directors, one representing the Department of Health and Human Services, and one each for the three statewide nursing home associations (for-profit, not-for-profit, and municipal).
She especially appreciated the WAMD Board members, by whom she felt she was always treated as an equal.
WAMD is no longer the largest state chapter, as it is difficult to compete in size with states as large as California, Texas, New York, and a few others.

The WAMD experiment in Victoria has the aim to demonstrate that the OFM population will be significantly reduced with the use of MD not only in stone fruit, but also by treating every fruit tree in the region.
Under WAMD the OFM population greatly reduced in one hot spot (property 2) in 1997-98 season and the population continued to be low till December 1998.

WAMD ("Where All Minneapolis Dances") and KFOY had each started broadcasting a few years earlier.
Stanley E. Hubbard's WAMD went on the air for the first time on February 13, 1925 (some sources say 1923), originally broadcasting live dance music from a local ballroom.
It is claimed that this was the first radio station to be completely supported by running paid advertisements.

Aberdeen, Md. - Aberdeen radio station WAMD could be sold to a nationwide Christian media network for an undisclosed sum, pending the conclusion of the deal and approval from the Federal Communications Commission.
Salem and First Broadcasting have not yet filed with the FCC for a transfer of the radio station’s license, but the application would be available at the station and opened up for 30 days of public comment once the request is filed, said FCC spokesperson Rebecca Fisher.
WAMD Office Manager Carol Powell said she had not yet heard about the sale, but remained optimistic that the station would continue serving Aberdeen.

More stations arrived in the next few years including WDGY and WAMD, which would later become KSTP.
WAMD was started by Stanley Hubbard in 1923, marking the beginning of Hubbard Broadcasting, which would later venture into television as well.
WLAG became WCCO in 1924 after it was acquired by Washburn Crosby Co. By the end of the decade the station landed on the 830 dial position with increased power to 50,000 watts, which was uncommon at that time.

I was the former Ops/Pd at WAMD for two years, and we submitted the paperwork a year ago to upgrade the site, with a new tower array in Kent County (on the shores of the Sasafarass River), which would operate as a DAY array, while keeping the existing site in Aberdeen as a NIGHT ARRAY.
Although, the new array would eliminate the signal in the "cornfields" of the Harford County area, which would put the full force of the signal where it is needed.
WAMD has always been a good service to the community, and Harford County deserves a better signal.

Hubbard was a pioneer in tuning the Twin Cities in to the rest of the world.
In 1924, he started WAMD, the state's first commercial radio station, and a year later organized the area's first news bureau for gathering local news and conducting regular newscasts.
Soon after, the station became KSTP, the most powerful radio station in the country at the time, a giant that gave Jack Benny, the Marx Brothers and Edgar Bergen their first on-air experience.
