WCAX-TV - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It is one of the few stations in the country (not counting owned and operated stations) that has had the same call letters, the same owner, the same channel number, and the same primary network affiliation throughout its history.
WCAX also has a large viewership in southern Quebec, Canada; including Montreal, a city far larger than any of the American cities served by the station, though its news presence there has generally been limited to weather and some sports coverage.
WCAX has also been carring Up to the Minute from October 2005 to the present, following 13 years of not being on air.

WCAX moved to quash the subpoena on First Amendment grounds, and the State moved to open the inquest subpoena filings to the public.
WCAX relies on a number of cases it claims establish a majority rule in favor of a qualified privilege for news gathering regardless of whether there is a confidential source to protect.
In short, WCAX is entitled to no privilege under the First Amendment, qualified or otherwise, to refuse to disclose evidence of a crime, or evidence that is relevant and material to a criminal investigation, when properly subpoenaed.

 WCAX (CBS)
WCAX can now claim to be the first local station in the Champlain Valley to "officially" carry HD programming, even though WCFE has already been broadcating a test signal.
The move was quite controversial though because WCAX refused to preempt 60 Minutes, meaning that if the game went into overtime and past 7 PM, they wouldn’t show the end of the game.
In the 80s, WCAX was home to "Hour Magazine" with Gary Collins at 9 AM and in the late-eighties, "Hollywood Squares" with John Davidson at 7:30 PM.

WCAX in South Burlington is not the only TV station in Vermont, but it is the one most people watch, especially news junkies.
In addition to news, WCAX is known for keeping up with the latest technology, no mean feat for a station in a comparatively small market.
WCAX is one of a handful of independently owned network affiliates in the country.

WCAX chose the HK436s because they wanted the option to upgrade to virtual reality.
The head easily mounts onto all types of studio pedestals, and indeed, WCAX will be employing a legacy pedestal topped by a 436.

After the interview, Ken informed me that the WCAX folks, when Ken asked them about approaching me for info, told him that they didn't want to talk to me. I probably would have given them something that didn't fit in their news "package" story.
The images they "distorted" were a hoot: probably the most innocent and non-intrusive images Ken and I had ever played, but when you blur them and then say or imply that they are "bad" images, it gives your news story adequate hype and alarmist quality.
