	Paul Douglas loses his job at WCCO
		Paul Douglas, longtime WCCO weatherman and one of the Twin Cities' best-known media personalities, was released from the station Friday as part of nationwide cuts by CBS in response to dwindling ad revenue and TV viewership.
		Douglas joins at least five WCCO employees, including weekend anchor John Reger, who were told their services were no longer needed as CBS reacts to a sluggish economy and stiff competition from the Internet.
		WCCO is still considered a shining star in the CBS firmament as it continues to provide aggressive competition for KARE, the local NBC affiliate.

		WCCO Radio at 830 Kilohertz (Kh) is a familiar household word in this area, and has been since October 2, 1924, when it opened to the public after a silence of two months.
		WCCO radio studios were leased and located on the 12th and 13th floors of the Nicollet Hotel in downtown Minneapolis and the broadcast transmitting facilities and twin aerial transmitter towers in early Coon Rapids made WCCO the largest radio station west of the Mississippi in 1925.
		The station remained in the Nicollet Hotel until April 1938, when WCCO radio moved to the fourth floor of what was then the Elks Club, 625 Second Avenue South, with a large auditorium for special shows.
