		In October '88, Kerry faced off against AWA Champion Jerry "The King" Lawler, with the vacated WCCW Title on the line, as well as the AWA belt.

	World Wrestling Entertainment close on purchasing WCCW tape library
		It is being reported that World Wrestling Entertainment is nearing completion of a deal to purchase the tape libraries of the former World Class Championship Wrestling organization.
		Kevin Von Erich, the last surviving member of the family that ran WCCW, currently owns the entire tape library of the organization.
		WWE right now is in the process of going through all of the footage present and examining the quality before they make their final offer.

		I believe WCCW was one of the first NWA-affiliated promotions to break away and attempt to establish itself as a competitor after the NWA (WCW) and WWF became "nationwide" promotions.
		However, I suppose it was just a question of WCCW wrestlers not getting national notoriety and Fritz Von Erich trying to build his boys into national superstars and not just household names in Texas and the surrounding areas.

		I basically watched the WCCW because on occasion, someone currently in the WWF would wrestle there, so that was neat to see.
		The first thing that I learned was that there was no longer the AWA, there was no longer the WCCW, there was no longer an interest in women's wrestling, and there was this new federation called the WCW, that I would learn that no other than Ted Turner owned it.
		A lot changed, most of the people that I saw when I turned on the TV that night (which was Memorial Day '96...Scott Hall's first apearance back in WCW) was that all the people I had watched in the WWF were in WCW.
