WCW World Tag Team Championship - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The first WCW World Tag Team Champions were Doom, who held the version of the NWA World Tag Team Championship that was created by Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling and subsequently recognized by WCW.
This version of the NWA World Tag Team Championship was renamed the WCW World Tag Team Championship in January 1991.
The last WCW World Tag Team Champions (with WCW as an independent company) were Sean O'Haire and Chuck Palumbo, who went on to the World Wrestling Federation in the March 2001 sale to defend the title there.

WCW - The real meaning from Timesharetalk wikipedia
WCW later renegotiated the use of the NWA name as a co-promotional gimmick with New Japan Pro Wrestling, and sued the WWF to stop showing Flair with the old NWA World title belt on its programs, claiming a trademark on the physical design of the belt.
WCW realized that the title belt, because of its rich in-ring history and visual impact, was highly sought after and respected in Japan and as such created this fictional subsidiary dubbed WCW International to inject some credibility back into the belt.
The WCW World Heavyweight Championship (which was renamed the World Championship) would continue to be used in WWF until it was merged with the WWF Championship into the WWF Undisputed Championship when Chris Jericho defeated The Rock and Steve Austin for the respective titles on December 9, 2001 on the PPV, Vengeance.

 Tag Team Wrestling Information
In professional wrestling, a tag team consists of two or more wrestlers who are working together as a team.
The term "tag team" has since become used in a metaphorical sense for a pair of partners who alternate in participation in an activity, and "tag-teaming" for the act of alternating with an ally, e.g.
According to the rules of pro wrestling, only one competitor per team is allowed in the ring at a time, and the only way that a wrestler can change places with a partner is for the competitor in the ring to "tag" him or touch him on some part of his body.

In October 23 1988, Foley teamed with Gary Young and defeated Todd Morton and Bill Dundee in a tournament final to become the CWA tag team champions.
Cactus Jack and Kevin Sullivan were scheduled to win the tag team titles at Slamboree 1994; so the choice was either to stay and reattach his ear or go to the PPV and win the titles.
In non-kayfabe terms the win was in response to WCW Nitro, that had at the time given their WCW Championship to their star Goldberg on live television Nitro instead of a PPV (see Monday Night Wars 1997-1998).
