In between, Jones, who hosts a weekly show on WFMU in Jersey City, N.J., weathered extreme fatigue and, if his feat is verified, broke the Guinness world's record for most continuous hours of deejaying.
Jones, who has hosted at WFMU for 15 years, is one of the station's more outrageous deejays, and that's saying a lot for a station known for musical eclecticism, live performances and on-air antics (motto: "All the amateurism of college radio without the basketball games").
WFMU waived its usual rules and let him smoke in the studio, so he brought along a carton of Marlboros.

Don't say that to anyone who is from the area and knows that WFMU happens to be the hippest thing on the air.
WFMU chooses to serve a diverse group of listeners by emphasizing diversity within many programs, as opposed to a reliance on numerous special interest programs ("coalition based" scheduling), which is the approach most American college and community stations choose.

Posted by DAVE SEGAL at 10:18 AM A post on the WFMU’s Beware of the Blog regarding Paul Pearson’s recent story in The Stranger, “Freaking the Frequencies,” appears here.
One thing we got wrong in the piece was WFMU’s revenue-generating prowess: the station has yet to surpass the $1 million mark for any of its annual fundraisers.
So when I typed that their fundraisers raised "one million per," I was mentally shorthanding "one million per year," which was not entirely accurate when it came out on the page.
