WLIW's first full week of begging has come and gone, lead off by the show that OSIA called 'tasteless' and 'salacious' among other things: "The Medici: Godfathers of the Renaissance." Although Laura Savini disagreed with OSIA and actively promoted this show WLIW ran only pre-taped begging and she wasn't in it.
WLIW's audio engineers set the volume level so low that when you boost it on your TV you hear hiss and when you change channels you are deafened by the new channel's sound level.
WLIW has announced, but still not acknowledged, that they are doing a begathon every mont. "How is that possible?" you say, because they announced the showing of 'Visions of New York' coming up in November.

 Current.org | WNET-WLIW merger, 2001
Five days earlier, WLIW trustee Anne Ellis resigned in objection to the merger, claiming that the marriage was bad for Long Island.
Both WLIW and WNET reject Ellis's conclusion, noting that the agreement boosts local primetime programming on the Long Island station and strives to maintain independent services to reach the widest possible audience.
Rattner argued that it would run "contrary to the purpose of the merger to turn WLIW into another WNET." Cass said the chief priority for his negotiating team was to preserve WLIW's local identity.
