	WLS (AM) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The station operates on an AM frequency of 890 kHz.
		Starting in the 1930s, WLS had been an affiliate of the Blue Network of the National Broadcasting Company (NBC), and as such aired the popular Fibber McGee and Molly and Lum and Abner comedy programs (both produced at the studios of Chicago's NBC-owned stations, WENR and WMAQ) during their early years.
		WLS and the other OandO ABC Radio Network stations not affiliated with ESPN Radio or Radio Disney are part of the transaction in which ABC Radio is to be merged with Citadel Broadcasting.

		From 1928 until the spring of 1960, WLS (which went on the air in 1924) aimed its programming at the farm families of the prairies of the Midwest.

	Impressions from a 6 year gastric bypass post op
		WLS is been made popular recently because of the so-called "obesity epidemic".
		I am part of many online and local support groups, and the only cheerleaders I see or hear from are those who are only a relatively short number of years post-op.
		The medical field would like us to believe that WLS made them so healthy that they are enjoying life so much that they just don't have time to communicate with new post-ops anymore.......they are "getting on with life".

	A quick history lesson on Chicago's 94.7 FM.
		Bob Sirott was hired as morning man, but was unable to start for several months, due to his contractual obligations that still remained after he had left WLS at the end of 1979.
		The music was adjusted to sound like the AM programming and morning and evening drives were simulcast.
		Steve Dahl (along with Garry Meier) returned to the station in 1981 for afternoon duty after being fired from The Loop for "assaulting community standards." They were moved to AM by 1985.

		One Dr. (all you in Seattle probably know him as the exercise Nazi) even required that his patients start walking every day for 45 minutes, and are required to shrink their liver and lose weight prior to even setting a surgery date.
		That said, I am having the surgery in 2 weeks, and haven't done anything to physically prepare for the day.
		I am now going in again to have my staples fixed as my pouch opened, this is my second time having it fixed.
