In May of 1974, the call letters were changed to WLVI (LVI being fifty-six in Roman numerals).

WLVI is licensed to Cambridge, Massachusetts, its transmitter is located in Newton, and its studios are located along I-93 in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood.
WLVI's sister station WCWN (also a future CW station), from Albany, New York, is run out of WLVI's studios, though local offices and a small studio are based in Albany.

Michael explained that his task was made more difficult because his charge was to successfully integrate existing 25-year old technology with the newer technologies during the "integration" phase, and plan for an organized shedding of the older components when newer technology assets were in position to replace them.
The new WLVI Master Control may be responsible for controlling up to four program streams, and will be designed to have the appropriate cable paths and access needed to support that ambitious undertaking.

In 1984, WLVI launched the first commercial 10 PM newscast in the market, THE TEN O'CLOCK NEWS, Boston's 10 PM news leader.
Tribune Broadcasting Company acquired WLVI in April 1994.
In January 1995, WLVI became Boston's WB, Boston's affiliate for The Warner Bros. Television Network ("The WB").

The general/overall theme of the event was to recognize the best in broadcast news.
Some of today's most well known figures in news such as WLVI (Channel 56), Meteorologist Mike Wankum who earned his statuette for outstanding news promotional announcement for "Wankum's Weather Wisdom".
At this year Emmys presented such award winners included Todd Gross WHDH (Channel 7) for outstanding achievement in weather reporting.

A day after O'Brien used the Oct. 1 televised forum at Worcester Polytechnic Institute to ask Romney to participate in more than the three scheduled debates, he agreed and his campaign contacted WLVI, which had standing invitations to all the candidates to appear at a forum on the station.
A WB network affiliate, WLVI has already hosted debates featuring the Democratic gubernatorial candidates, the Republican lieutenant governor foes, and the candidates for state treasurer and Suffolk County district attorney.
Still, landing the exclusive rights to air this contest live is a coup for a station that typically attracts roughly 70,000 households to its 10 p.m.

I record with my fusion III QAM either OTA or QAM.
