  WQAQ can't broadcast without a tower
The students at Quinnipiac University's WQAQ, Hamden, CT (98.1) weren't hallucinating when they came back to school - the tower in the middle of campus that held the antenna for their little class D FM was gone, leaving them with no way to put the station back on the air for the Fall semester.
The recent decision to take down the radio tower has crippled, if not destroyed, WQAQ which has for years been one of the predominant student-run operations on this campus.
A radio tower that was used to broadcast WQAQ -- the student-run radio station at Quinnipiac University -- was taken down by order of school officials.

Annually, WQAQ hosts a spring concert (past acts include Allister, The Bouncing Souls, Angry Salad, and Camera Shy Paparazzi) and an Open Mic Night (a battle of the bands competition, recent winners including Camera Shy Paparazzi and Chris Fredda).
WQAQ's longest running show is Slacker Radio, a punk music show originated by DJ Chris Fredda in 1999 and continued today by Andy Yaworski.

WQAQ's Meetings are on all Wednesdays Buckman Theatre at 4:15 PM WQAQ is Quinnipiac University's student run radio station.
Playing a variety of music that includes alternative, RPM, rap, and ska, WQAQ can easily be called the best music in the small, peaceful state of Connecticut.
Our station gives students the opportunity to transmit their voices to the entire QU campus as well as to surrounding communities of Hamden, North Haven, and parts of New Haven.
