	Wisconsin Retirement System
		The WRS is governed by chapter 40 of the Wisconsin Statutes and the ETF section of the Wisconsin Administrative Code.
		WRS retirement benefits are usually not payable in a lump sum.
		Your WRS death benefits (other than joint survivor annuities) are paid either to the people you name in a beneficiary designation that you file with the Department of Employee Trust Funds or, if you do not file a beneficiary designation, according to "standard sequence.

	Department of Human Resources - Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) Benefits
		Once eligible, you will continue to be a WRS participating employee for periods of subsequent employment with the university unless you have a 12 month break in service or unless you receive a benefit from the WRS.

	Wisconsin DETF - Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS)
		A retirement benefit is available to vested WRS employees after you terminate employment and have reached age 55 (50 for protective category employees).
		If you die as an "inactive" WRS participant (you are not currently employed in a position covered under the WRS, but have not taken a benefit from your WRS account), death benefits usually consist of employee required contributions plus accrued interest, and in certain cases may include some employer contributions.
		While you are actively employed under the WRS you may be eligible to buy creditable WRS service, which will increase the benefits for which you are eligible when you terminate employment.

		If you are in WRS and MATC reported only your hours in class, you are missing your preparation hours and this would cause your total years of service to be less than half of what it should be.
		MATC calculates the employment level for part-time teachers by counting only the hours worked in the classroom since that is how part-timers are paid, by hours in the classroom.
		All hours of service required by the part-time employment, both inside and outside the classroom, must be included both in determining whether the appellant qualifies as a participating employee and in reporting hours of service to the Wisconsin retirement System.
