In the early 1970s, WRC started using a new jingle package with the motto of "have a happy day." It caught on so well that the station ended up giving away a full-length version of the song on 45 RPM records, and using it in a variety of promotions.

KTTC TV was first in stereo in the market, was the first local media on the World Wide Web (1995,) the first MSNBC News on the Internet affiliate (in 1996, shared with WRC in Washington, D.C.) and was the first real full-power digital TV station (DTV) in the market, and in Minnesota.
KROC-TV had a primary broadcast area of approximately 60 to 75 miles in radius - up to 100 miles if conditions were "very good".
Transmission facilities, studio facilities and a 500-foot tower were built by KROC-TV on Hennessy Hill, two miles west of Rochester.
