Although WROC had great hopes for Princeton University's new Tilghman-Gutmann administration, over the past several weeks and most recently at the 10/8 University Council meeting they have shown themselves to be just as stubborn as their predecessors on their insistence that Princeton's lowest-paid workers receive "market" wages, not fair wages.
WROC is a group of students, faculty, staff, religious leaders, and other members of the Princeton community dedicated to pressuring Princeton University to improve its treatment of low-wage workers.
WROC is a project of Students for Progressive Education and Action, a Princeton University student organization.

According to Jean Colman, WROC's director, the group was founded in 1984 when welfare recipients in North, South, and Central Seattle met to compare the treatment they received at their local welfare offices.
WROC continues to monitor and document violations and abuses in the new welfare system and plans to bring them to the attention of the agency, the public, elected officials, and the media.
WROC is currently developing a "Stop the Clock" campaign to end time limits for employed recipients still receiving a small welfare grant to supplement their incomes.

WROC was the market's first television station, signing on June 11, 1949 as WHAM-TV, an NBC affiliate, on channel 6.
After 40 years with NBC, WROC joined CBS in 1989, swapping affiliations with WHEC-TV.

 The Daily Princetonian - University addresses WROC's concerns
The University is prepared to address two issues — the use of casual workers and wage levels — raised by the Workers' Rights Organizing Committee during the past few months, according to a statement released yesterday by Vice President for Finance and Administration Richard Spies GS '72.
Workers hired to work for at least a semester with a duty time of 50 percent or more should be hired either for specified terms or as regular employees on continuing appointment, according to the statement.
The University has asked the Priorities Committee — which usually studies the budget and makes recommendations on the size of each year's salary pool and its distribution — to conduct the review and has set a deadline for recommendations at the end of April.
